“In stills photography, my aim is to capture the essence of a live performance or to create a fine art image, something unique, something the musician will want to use, something the viewer will feel. In music videos, its a privilege to work with musicians to interpret and complement their songs. I’m passionate about providing highest-quality imagery at affordable prices, driven by a love of the art rather than ‘chasing the money’. ”
Tony Palmer is an experienced live music photographer and videographer based out of Portsmouth and Southampton, UK. He is a staff photographer and writer for Melodic Mag, based in USA, and works as in-house photographer for Vinilo Record Store in Southampton, UK. He also regularly shoots for Icebreaker Festival, Golden Touch Festival, and Night Currents Festival, in Portsmouth, UK.
He has loved photography in all its forms all his life, starting in landscape and portraiture with film and digital, and now specialising in working with musicians, studios, venues, promoters, music and music blogs, to create a variety of media content. Tony now combines his love of music with a passion for photography.
Equally at home shooting stills at a small pub gig or at a major festival, shooting digital or with analogue film cameras, and videoing a solo live session or a multi-day full production music video. He is also a qualified drone pilot (A2 CofC).
When not shooting, Tony works as a consultant clinical scientist for the NHS.
